How Precedent works

Traders constantly say the market “rhymes.” Precedent makes that literal and measurable for the London session on gold and the majors.

Build a bank of real sessions. It pulls months of recorded 1-of-market candles and slices each day into the same session window (default 05:00–20:00 UK time, adjusting automatically for British Summer Time). Every day becomes a normalised shape — its path of returns from the open.

Take today’s shape so far. Up to the cursor (in Live, that’s right now), the session has drawn a partial curve.

Find the closest precedents. A nearest-neighbour search (root-mean-square distance on the normalised curves) ranks every historical day by how closely its early shape matches today’s. The best k become the analogs.

Let them vote on what’s next. Because each precedent is a finished day, we already know how it continued. Line those continuations up from the cursor and you get a fan of paths, a median, and a 10–90% cone — plus the odds the session ends higher.

Read it honestly

This is analog forecasting — a descriptive technique, not a crystal ball. A strong déjà-vu score means today looks a lot like its neighbours; it does not mean the outcome is guaranteed. When the analogs disagree, the cone widens — that disagreement is information too. In Study mode, scrub any past day and hit Reveal actual to see how often the cone would have contained reality. Do that enough and you’ll build a feel for when precedent is worth leaning on.

Data & privacy

Out of the box it uses Binance public market data (no account, no key) — including PAX Gold (PAXG), a token redeemable 1:1 for a troy ounce of London Good Delivery gold, so it tracks spot gold closely. Add a free Twelve Data key in Settings to swap in real spot XAU/USD and interbank FX (EUR/USD, GBP/USD, USD/JPY). Everything runs in your browser; your key and cache never leave this device.
